Alastair started Thistrict in 2016 after spending 11 years in regional transport management. He saw a gap in how executive teams moved between Edinburgh Airport and the city centre. Most rentals took too long at the desk. He built the company to fix that timing issue. Today, he manages a team of 7 staff from our office on George Street.

He is responsible for the Aristocratic blue fleet. This means checking that every one of our 14 cars meets his specific standards for cleanliness and maintenance. Alastair insists on no stickers and no ads on any vehicle. He believes business travel should be quiet and discreet. He keeps our delivery window at exactly 55 minutes or less.

The 55-Minute Rule

Alastair personally developed our dispatch system in 2018. It ensures a driver is ready at the terminal before your flight even lands. He tracks the local traffic patterns on the M8 and A90 daily. This data helps us ensure your keys are in your hand within 55 minutes of booking for local pickups. He doesn't like corporate talk or long queues at rental counters.

By the way, Alastair still handles the 6:15 AM airport deliveries himself twice a month to stay sharp on our service levels. He knows the Edinburgh business hub better than most sat-navs. If you see a navy saloon with a perfectly polished grill near St Andrew Square, there is a good chance Alastair inspected it that morning.

Focus on Discretion

Our fleet is strictly navy blue because Alastair wants our cars to look like private vehicles, not rentals. He personally sources every car, focusing on high-spec interiors that suit a manager or a small delegation. Since 2021, he has moved 92% of our fleet to low-emission executive models to meet the requirements of our city-centre clients.
